Race fuel

How much compression do you need to run high octane race fuel?

it's more like how much compression requires higher octane/race fuel
not how much compression race fuel requires.
you will see no benefits of running higher octane than is required to deter detonation.
The higher the octane, the higher its resistance to detonation

the general rule of thumb for our blasters seems to be...
stock compression is fine on 89 octane
140ish to 165psi may require up to 93 octane
165-185psi. may require a mix of race fuel and 93
185psi+ should be fed a strict diet of race fuel only (110+ ?)

but there are also other influences that determine what octane is required

Mine has a little over 145. I run premium. I like the smell of race gas

you may like the smell of race fuel, but your 145 compression engine may actually run worse on it.

come to my ride in july, we'll let you follow 79bronco around all day and get intoxicated on the burning race fuel I:I

U don't run a certain gas or oil just cause it smells better. If that's what ur after ur into all this for the wrong reasons. U pick n oil for its protection and reliability not its smell. I personally only run amsoil in mine at a 32:1 pre mix

The best oil with the best smell and engine protection is a Castor oil (bean oil extracted from the seeds of a Castor plant), without a doubt.

My preferences are Maxima 927 or Castrol R30 mixed at 25:1.

Where I live I can get race gas starting at 93 or 95 octane. The biggest benefit of it for a stockish motor is that it doesn't contain ethanol and it supposedly has a better additive package.

hahhahahahahahaha Guess me and bronco will have to give you an early morning alarm clock with our race fuel.We will start up the bikes and smoke you out of your tent!!!!!!

Currently running klotz 32:1 (20% BēNOL® Racing Castor Oil) smells great and doesn't smoke too much. Runs super smooth too! Get a good oil and stick with it, i guess that's the best thing to do.
