Instead of buying the oil block off kit for $20-30, could I just disconnect the hose and plug it and then premix? Do I need to do anything else like disconnect the pump?

all i did was block off the hose that came out of the carb and put a screw in it with some silicone, and then i took the gear out of the pump and bocked off the lines that came with with a screw and some silicone and i was good to go, thats the gear i took out in the pic below ..hope i helped B-)

I read about taking the gear out, and apparently you did it too so it must be pretty popular. Do you happen to have a picture of the screw/silicon combo? Could you take one?

Instead of taking out all the guts of the pump, can't you just take off the actual plastic gear that drives the pump?
u can do that ifu like most ppl do that but u got to pull the clutch cover to get to it.. i am prolly going to take mine out when i redo my clutch ..
yup np pat for the pics ,, thats is what i did in the pics u cant really see them that well cause they are dirty lol ..

you dont need to do anything with pulling the clutch cover... WOW, your gunna screw this dude up telling him that. Bro this is what u wana do, pop open the pump cover, disconnect both hoses where the connect from the pump, in other words take all the hoses competely off the pump, then unscrew the pump, its like 3 little screws, open it - easy stuff and take the plastic gear out, put back together, put pump back in, throw case back on, get some silicone, silicone the two holes commming from the pump cover and silicone the little hole on the carb where the oil line connected.

ron, why is there 2 hoses on the back of ur carb, mine only had one, which is gone because it was the oil line, i must be missing another hose? what is the second? drain tube?

I did not realize he didn't already have his clutch cover off. I am rebuilding my engine right now so naturally I assume everyone else is. =)) I do believe it is easier if you already have the clutch cover off to just remove the main gear.
yes take the white gear off before it breaks its not hard a monkey could do it.if ya dont its just gonna spin in there so soon its off the better off u are
