Problem!

My blaster revs up by itself but only sometimes not every time. Any ideas what it could be.

Air leak? I just gave the thing a rebuild

If your having a Rev issue, even after a rebuild, it is caused by a leak. Leak test the motor, find the problem and fix it.

Could the revving be caused by a crack in the piece that connects the carb to the head

Yes that will suck in air and create a lean conditions

That probably my problem I saw a crack on the intake boot when I was putting it together but I didn't think it went through

Get another one. Once they crack, they are worthless.

Even a Presidential Solution can't fix that. Don't overtighten bolts.
