I pulled my engine to paint and after reinstalling I took it for a short ride and I noticed the cylinder was super hot. I'm worried it's gonna sieze,I haven't messed with the jetting and it was running fine to my knowledge before. Am I being paranoid or is this normal?
I have 290 main, center clip
mods are; B1 exh,no lid, other than that it's stock oh it on it's last bore 68.25

Thanks for any help guys,

Well, shiny paint does emit infrared rays better than smudgy, muddy fins. It may "feel" hotter because it is actually rejecting more heat rather than less.

You might want to invest in a non-contact thermometer if you are really worried about it overheating. That isn't affected as much and will give you a real reading about how hot it is actually running.

airleak possible, did you pull the intake off to paint, < very likely spot,
and i'd say that 290 is a little lean for a toomey exhaust, dont they recommend like a 310 or 320 ????

I took the reed cage off, didn't check it for leaks didn't relize that would be an issue I check head for leaks using a liquid solution but didn't notice anything I will double check intake. As far as the paint I only pulled the motor to paint frame and it gets hot enough to almost melt those rubber spacers on cylinder

did you use a new gasket on the intake???? gotta be an airleak, find it now, or find it when you tear it down for a fried piston
