Pistons

Just want advice on what piston to get i can get a wossner piston from a local shop or get a wiseco shipped from usa. Any help would be good as this is my first rebuild

go with the wossner if you're overseas,
they're a decent piston and will save you all the shipping and import duties.

Id never run anything but a forged piston like the wiseco, it might cost more now but will save alot later, seen way to many cast pistons come apart an trash the cases an the cylinder, if the woosner is forged go for it if not id say no way

is there a reason you created another thread on the same subject ?

yamaha blaster comes stock with a cast piston. theres a thousand opinions about pistons.
Yep your right it does, an they explode just the same as aftermarket cast pistons, ive been there ive done it an ive been bit by it, i currently building a 04 rm250 for a guy that went cheap an used cast piston, Lucky for him I can tig weld an was able to repair the hole in the case were the piston punched through it, cases aren't cheap, an neither is replacing a cylinder that you may have spend a pile of money on having it ported. I dont know about you but ill spend the extra money any day for the forged piston, that extra money is way cheaper then repairing a engine that exploded a piston

Look after a cast piston well and it will look after you!

Last month I pulled the original piston from my lads 05 engine with countless hard hours of hard riding and there was very little wear evident.

The machine marks could still be seen on the skirt.

Warm it up well, lubricate it well, keep the air clean and run it at the correct AFR, and a cast piston will last a very long time.

I have now put a forged piston in the lads bike but only because that is what KOR supplied.

Thanks lads think ill go with the wiseco pro lite. There costing me the same even doe the wiseco is coming from us
