I blew a hole in my piston.I wanted to save some money and just get it up and running for my kids,I measured the piston and got a reading of 67.50. I purchased a new wiseco piston kit 67.50,cleaned it all up but did not hone. kicked it over and it started but turned of right a way..it would not start after that, took out the plug cleaned it and it started needs gas to keep it running.and has a pinging/rattle noise like the rings are loose or ? I just put the rings in ,do they need a special gaping ? could it be wrong size piston? it looks like it fits tight..... If I take it apart will I need all new gaskets? also is there room to bore...
Thanks

I think

87 0r 92....... But with the old piston it was running good on the same gas..but maybe not..... with a hole in the piston, but I was running it hard in the dunes and I'm 185 pounds.I was keeping up with a 85 250r...

How off can you be on the piston...the kick starter is not that strong....

what octane fuel are you running?

if you burned a hole in the top of the piston, you prolly have slag floating around the big end bearing , the rings do need the gap checked... yes you will need new gaskets. if you try and salvage the gaskets with lots of gunk you will probably end up with an air leak, if you don't have one now. airleaks and detonation are what puts holes in the top of pistons. I would get a new piston and rings, bore and hone it, have the big end bearing replaced, and replace the main bearings and seals.

play

I might have measured wrong..... I took the top head off and put the piston to the top.......there is wiggle room when I put my hand on top of piston and move it back and forth........ It should be super tight right? thanks
