is there any bad effects that can happen from taking the silencer off, i just had mine off and started it up and i like the sound, very loud, but very bad ass. it also feels like it has alot more power,

yea ive seen those, this is my stock exhaust im talking about here, any bad effects?

well i just took it out for a spin, nothing seems to be going wrong, still had full power, actualy feels like its got a little more pep to it. let me tell you though, thing is LOUD, sounds just like the drag pipes too, i think if its safe to ride without the silencer im going to keep it off, i like being the brat barking through the woods

yea sounds just like a drag, take ur silencer off and start her up, it sounds pretty normal at idle but when u give it throttle the drag pipe noise kicks in.

You may wish to reconsider reinstalling the silencer when things dry out. Forrest fires are caused by such. Melted plastic is no fun either.

can you explain how i could cause a forest fire and melt my plastics?

It is not good for it if u notice a drag pipe has the fat part of the pipe then it has a good amount of tubing after it to keep the pressure..your not gonna see any affects right away but long term could be ugly..if u like the sound get a drap pipe or im not sure if u could just add more onto your stock pipe,,,

Sure, a stock silencer has a built in DOT approved spark arrester, an aftermarket silencer with a straight through design ,has the opportunity to catch random sparks as they pass by the holes packed with fiber glass. In most states, operating without a silencer on any public land or forrest will bring a hefty fine. If caught in Maine, the game warden issuing the citation will not allow the machine to move except by tow. As far as the melted plastic, the pipe/silencer combination is designed with the mounting bolt on the silencer as part of the rigitity of the set. You will soon find the broken center bolt on the pipe, and before you get home you will find melted plastic. Other than that, enjoy the blat.

if you leave the silencer off, it f*cks with the backpressure, and can do serious damage

my brother had a gsxr750 and took the silencer off and it sound really good nothing happend but he just rode it around the block and pulled some wheelies and someone had called the cops so he put it back on.

it messes up ur backpressure and will lead into hours of dicking with different stuff to get it running right its not worth it

i know on a four stroke it will burn the valves clean out of them if left off long enough, but not sure what it would do to a blaster, but after awhile its probally gonna tare somthing up! and yes, it will melt your plastic right where the silencer came off at!!! iv seen pipes just leak right their and melt the plastic, but i seriously dout your gonna start a fire, but that would be kewl if you could (as long as you didnt burn anything down!)

yea its back on, sounded bad ass but i dont wana be doing a rebuild any sooner than i should have too, even though i can tell its about that time.

not really. on a 2-stroke the back pressure is created by the expansion chamber. 2-stroke motors have no valves, thus no NEED for back pressure. sound waves created by the combustion process and reflected back into the chamber are what cause a 2-stroke to get its power band from. not back pressure like a 4-stroke motor would use. when it comes to saprks and forest fires. 2- stroke motors are the most likely candidate for it. they have nothing to seperate the fire from the exhaust system and quite often breathe fire into the expansion chamber. as well as unburnt fuel/air mixture. this mixed with a hot exhaust pipe can and will create pops and flames from the open header. this is also the reason 2-stroke motors are a dying breed. they are already banned in california during the summer months because the likelyhood of starting a fire.

now, for the guy with the gsxr750, i can tell you that it will tear that motor up in a heartbeat to run on an open header. im a sportbike mechanic in my spare time and as a suzuki guru of sorts. i am a well known name on the gsxr forums if you are a member of any. i use the same screen name there. i used to be an admin on gsxr.com before it was bought out and i am still an admin on gixxernation.com if you need any advice.
