05 Blaster. CLEAN looking body. Seller has the motor out and says it needs a piston. He has already bought the piston. He bought a stock 66mm piston though. I suspect there is a little more to it than that. I don't plan on going crazy on this one as it is for my 10 year old nephew. The plan is wheel spacers, nerf bars, powder coat frame, 3 mil stroker crank, home cylinder port job, remove tors and oil injection, full exhaust, and 28mm pwk carb. I'm getting the bike and extra parts for 650.

nice grab bro, looks really clean !
and woo-hoo another build thread w/pics !!!

The only thing that confuses me is why he bought a 66mm piston. If the bike needed a piston he should have went to the next bore. If the cylinder was in good shape he could have just put a ring on it. I'm expecting a surprise out of the motor. No big deal though. I will be looking to buy Nerf bars, full exhaust, and 28mm pwk carb. Anybody have some things they would like to part with?

i just pm'd some good priced 28's to another member, good prices on ebay right now from kx and yz 85's

I would rather work out a trade. Do you have some nerf bars or an exhaust. I will let you know tomorrow after I get them.

Turn out the extra black plastics painted. When I disassembled the motor I found the cylinder to be in great shape. The piston that the PO bought was the wrong size. Also the piston skirt was broke and busted both cases. I used the aluminum welding rods from harbor freight with great results. I am waiting on crank bearings and seals then I can assemble the bottom end. Also ordered Tusk clutch kit, oil injection block of plate, wheel spacers, complete gasket set, wiseco piston kit, and an Allen head engine bolt kit. So when it's all said and done I will have an 05 blasty for $950 with a fresh top and bottom end. I will post pictures of case repair and progress as I get the parts. I'm also posting the new piston in the for sale section. It's a Yamaha 66mm.

Not a lot. The throttle stop will be used. I will also teach him how to operate the clutch. He used to ride a pw50. I am going to clean up the transfer ports and polish the exhaust. Then the only other mods will be pipe and air box lid removed. Should be plenty for him.

Ok so here is where I am. I got the bottom end back together. I had to fix the broken cases, new crank bearings and seals, and shift star mod. The new piston came in and I am doing a home port job on the cylinder as we speak. No boost ports. Just cleaning up casting flaws, polishing exhaust port, and chamfering the intake bridge. The bike still has the tors on it. I ordered the Vito's tors eliminaror kit and will be taking that POS off as soon as it gets here. Oil injection has been removed and carb has been cleaned. Fmf gold series pipe and silencer is on it's way. Got it used for 80 bucks to the door. This may be the only 05 blaster alive with drum brakes! We put the disc brakes on my buddies blasty. This bike is just a spare. I will upload pics tomorrow of the work that has been done.

Liking the progress! Sounds like this blasty is going to be with your kid for a while! If you keep it for long enough he may get his own plans for it ;)

I decided to keep the stock crank in there. No up and down play and side to side play was in spec. Might leave the stock pipe on until he gets used to it. Just have to see how he does in an open field with the throttle stop. Only time will tell.

So I got the motor back in and fired up tonight. Waiting on tors removal kit, pipe and silencer. I put the motor through it's three heat cycles, put 5 inch wheel spacers on, Vito's air filter, and rock star pad. Still have to trim front fenders, install pipe, remove tors, jet carb, and tear it up and down the street. Pics are uploading now from my phone.

Absolutely. I'm going with an fmf fatty and lid off. We run the same set up on another bike. I have a 280 and 270 jet. Of course I'll start with the 280. Here are some pics. The blue bike is the one we are working on.

I just threw some random pictures in there. Not sure if I ever uploaded them. The blue bike is really clean. After it gets pressure washed it should look brand new.
