So the shaft in the pic was under the pump after I removed the 2 screws, what is this shaft n how do I remove it to place the plug?

Is that theft the drive gear? Is there any harm in leaving the shaft as is? How do I do the project and leave the pump in place but remove the drive gear? Is this pump rated at the 32:1 mix rate? And what is the failure potential?

You can leave the shaft in situ but remove the gear.

The pump puts out oil at roughly 20:1.

If you are going to recreational ride 32:1 is fine, if you intend doing lots of wide open throttle or racing a mix of 25:1 would be better to make sure the engine gets sufficient lubrication!

You may need to increase the size of the main jet and confirm with a plug chop!

Ok, I'm gonna pull the engine today since I have to tear it down anyways. Quick question, if the pump is 20:1 roughly, why do you run 25:1 or 32:1? Why not mix 20:1 in the tank to make it the same as the pump?
