i have a 2002 yamaha blaster with the oil injector block off kit..ive had it for a couple months now and was wondering what the differenes/benefits/possible downfalls of going from mixing 40:1 to 32:1....before i got the blaster it had always been mixed 40:1 but since ive had it ive always mixed 32:1...any information is greatly appreciated guys

this is a huge can o worms round these parts. but 32:1 is a very safe ratio to run. 40:1 is also ok as long as you use a high quality oil. don't buy that crap in gas stations. but I won't recomend oil types too much controversy. just use a good one

yea i been using amsoil but i was just wondering if there would be any noticeable differences in performance or anything...i mean i know the type of oil isnt going to make it faster necessarily but i was wondering what ratio would be the best for it and the benefits 32:1 over 40 would be....yea im cool with the type of oil im using tho..i got that all figd out

You won't notice much power between 32:1 and 40:1 amsoil recomends 50:1 in everything. no matter what. but that makes me nervous. I usually run 40:1

basically u dont want to lean, but as log as there is a very tiny bit of somke commin from the pipe, ur safe. obvisally below 32:1 is gonnaa give u a sh*t ton of smoke. and 50:1 is gonn give u less if not any smoke. like u might fell a little more perkier, but nothin more than that. i also mix 32:1, cause it works out with my 16oz bottle, and 2 gallon gas tank. i just put half the bottle in. and i wont have any extraz

Bear in mind now, if you are changing the oil/fuel ratio, you may be needing to change the main jet.

More oil, less fuel = lean, less oil, more fuel = rich.

When I changed from 32:1 to 25:1, I had to increase the main jet one size.

So you are adding more oil to the fuel. If the guy before you jetted for 40:1, thats a possible one size in jet, and you could be on the lean side.

A leaner mixture will often seem to run fine, even better than opitmum, but could do serious damage.

To be on the safe side do a plug chop to be sure,to be sure.:)
