i just bought a 1990 yamaha blaster my first the bike it needs TLC it is totally rebilt bottom to top question is the oil line doesnt want to prime not sure what would cause this right were the oil line goes into the pump about 1/2ft of oil is in the line just before the pump than from the tank you can see it slowly coming thats when it seem like it don't want to prime maybe just disconnect the oil injection but i would like to run with the pump such a hassle mixin premix but im running 40:1 with the injection still on just in case does anyone know how to prime the oil injection

get rid of it itll clog up and lock up your motor basically. get a oil block off kit and just premix. everyone on this site will tell you that. and i dont know about 40:1 maybe bump her up to 32:1?

There is a screw you loosen on the pump to prime. Not real sure how to prime, maybe crack the screw and crank it over a few times?

ya thats what i thought unstock240 says that there is a screw that you losen than it will prime but i think im going to premix the gas an oil if i just take the oil lines put screw in them block it will that hurt anything or do i need the block off kit thanks for the info everyone

You can just remove the pump drive gear and toss the rest of the system without using a blockoff plate. You have to find a way to plug the fitting to the carb though. I bought rubber caps called hillman #8 screw protectors for 55cents at lowes fit right on there. Yea or just cut down the carb line and put a screw in it will work.

okay sounds good enough i take the cover off theres like a crome square thing that has 2 lines what holds that pump in and what happens when i take it out will oil come out of were it was does everything come out when i take the pump out or do i have to pull a gear or something never worked on 2 strokes always had 4 strokes but i like 2 strokes even better thanks for the info
