Well personally, I've ridden both and the Z/KFX/DVX is the superior quad, but there are few differences. For one the Z has reverse....400ex does not. The 400ex is probably all around a little more reliable but it's as low tech as low tech gets.....even so, I still say it's still the most reliable and best handling stock quad you can get.....nowhere near the fastest, but it has plenty of low end to stay around. The Z has about 5-6 more hp stock and is liquid cooled, so it's considerably quicker, but in a drag you won't really see it so much. The reverse is always nice to have, but occasionally they have little nics and nacs problems like the reverse cable loosening, but it's not a big deal as long as you keep an eye on it. Both have fairly light front ends, but the Z's feel even lighter but it's probably only more a product of having more power. Both are awesome wheelie machines if that's your thing. For me personally?.....I'd lean towards the Z simply because it has a more potent engine and it's a more smoother rev happy engine whereas the 400ex XR400 engine is more bumbly and torquey which might not be bad if that's your thing. Now if the price was great on the 400ex -AND- it was in good shape with no problems then I'd take that if it saves $500 or thereabouts obviously, but the Z is the better quad in my opinion.

Not really but a registration and title are required and a sticker in an easily visible spot.If its a 99 or new you have to be registerd. If it a 98 or older you dont. But I would check and make sure first because this is what i was told. This didnt come from the people of wayne.
