whats up guys? been checking out the forum here for a while now, just finally decided to join. ive gotten lots of great info, and its nice to see a community that knows what the f*ck is going on. im 22 from massachusetts. i have a 98 blaster thats torn apart, wont start. nice to make everyones acquaintance.

looks like your ride has a bunch of work done to it. random question for you, is it possible to rid my bike of my cdi unit, control unit, and a majority of the wires related to both?

Welcome! Its possible to have no cdi but....... I don't know if its a good idea to remove it. My old xr75 had no cdi but that was wayyy old school, I think its best if you leave all that stuff alone except the throttle over ride system. That causes nothing but problems if you have a 88-02 model, rip the tors box out and burn it!

ive been wondering if i could just run without a control unit, but i still have no start. im wondering if my cdi box is bad.

the only thing u need to run ur blasty is the stator and cdi box

ok so on that note, the cdi box has 5 wires coming from it. a black ground, orange (to ign coil), white/red (power?) black/red (power/timing signal?), and black/white which is supposed to tie into the tors control unit. question is, what do i do with the black and white wire? cut it? ground it?

sorry for all the questions but you're heading in the direction of where i want to go with my bike, i just need a little more info.
