noise from motor

my friend couldn't start his blaster so he was trying to pull start it by tying a rope to his car, it never started by now he said he can hear weird noises in the jug like piston slap any ideas what could've happened

first thing i would do is a compression check 120 psi at the least

we took the top end apart rings and piston seemeed ok , one reed had a piece broken off, not sure where the piece went, we ccan spin the crank freely and hear the noise, i cant remember if the crank should move freely like that or not

sounds like crank bearing

my friend took his motor apart and a piece of the case fell out, he said a gear hit the case and broke it off. has this happened to any one here
