Figured this was the best place to start on the forum. Recently acquired a 1998 blaster. My dads friend hired me to do some work to get it running after it sat uncovered since 2001, the engine was seized, all the cables were a rusted mess. the crankcase was also full of water, as was the bottom end. i was told to get it going for as cheaply as possibe, and i did so. about 20 dollars went into water displacers, a bit more for all new cables and levers. a gasket kit and this thing runs again. after contacting the owner a few times since completion in search of reimbursement for the parts and time i put into this machine, he seemsuninterested and now hasnt talked to me in over a month regarding it.
at first this was a burden, id like he money to put towards my dirtbike, but the more i ride this thing, the more i see that keeping it wouldnt be all that bad. just here to learn more about the quad and some mods in general. i plan on making it a "loaner" type deal for my friends in the summer when i trade in the dirtbike for another quad to replace my banshee. heres some pics i took when i was still tearing it down. its in pretty bad shape, everything was just neglected, a bunch of wiring was botched together (TORS system i found out from being on here) and everything looked beat on.

i also noticed all the bodywork was held together by phillips head hardware. THIS BUGGED ME TO DEATH. did they come from the factory this way?!

thank you. i was just wondering, everything seemed to fit together like oem, but once rust and grime set in, those kinds of screws are not practical,i probably stripped 1/3 of everything i was taking off the bike just because of them being either damaged previously or rusted to death.
