when will i need new piston rings? my piston and bore are in great shape, its been goin good for 7 years but it seems like it would need new rings by now? how do i tell? just a compression test? if so my compression is at 145 right now with a rechambered head

when your compression drops to around 125, (under 110 for stock compression)
i'd pull the cylinder, check piston to cylinder clearence,
if out of spec...time for a new piston/bore,
if within specs..a hone and re-ring will suffice.

BTW...years mean nothing, hours riding the bike do !

when riding out power out I:I :D
About 40 hours is what a typical cast piston will last for under ideal conditions hi comp race pistons usally arround 25 hrs. but even still rings are what usally fail in my exp.

I do not think you can get a high comp piston for a YFS200.

My lads bike was bought second hand 2 years ago, it is a 2005 model still on the stock piston.

I can assure you that he rides a fair bit and is not shy with the throttle.

Perfect jetting, good bean oil at the right ratio, and regular maintainance which includes leak testing should keep his bike running for a lot longer.

I do not think there is truely a High Comp piston for any 2s. That's not how you do it with a 2s, it's chamber volume (cc) !!
Have seen this mentioned before and I think it's advertising hype. If it were possible don't you think Weisco would be doing it ??? I guess they could make the crown a touch higher (only couple thousandths) safely and call it high comp. But there are too many variables to safely do it AND make much if any real power increase.

This is general info, not aimed at Blaaster

Us old farts gotta stick together 8-| I:I

my version........

If it ain't broke....... GO RIDE HARD AND TRY TO BREAK IT !

I tried this with my blaster and it really didnt work lol it just kept running that was with a season and a half racing and nearly 100hrs I'd say its away getting bored for a rebuild now it didnt blow but
