So does anyone read the introductions anymore? My name is Eric, I am 27 and just picked up my first 2003 Blaster. I am so grateful to have hydro disk brakes I:I I was introduced to the Blaster back in the day when I use to have a 400EX. So darn small and light!! B-) My friend had one and other then the lame cable drum brakes the quad was a lot of fun! I have owned many expensive quads in the past but this time I was on a budget and remembered the bang for the buck Blaster! The quad is in good shape but needs a little work here and there. With your help im looking to become a Blaster expert and help others. :-D I ride a 2002 Honda 650R competition dirtbike that is hella fast but I needed something for the snow! I don't have long before the first good snow so I want to have this thing all ready to go by then.

At first look the engine runs VERY strong (bored 60 over with fmf exhaust) but the idle seems to wander too high. I am going to need new tires and new wheel bearings all around. Other then that its pretty nice and it was cheap.

Welcome to the forum man!! The idle is an easy thing to adjust unless the problem is coming from somwhere other then the carb....there is an idle screw that u can turn the idle down a little bit with.....i have also heard of the idle being screwed up there is too much oil being in the gas premix.....im not 100% sure though but those things could help u.....good luck!

Whats up man. To be an expert mechanic, get the Clymer manual. Its very easy to read and all you need pretty much are the right tools and you can do anything. Ask me how i know.

What town are you from? Im from Derby, its next to new haven.

From what I keep reading on the TORS thread you need a kit for the 2003 and up blaster because its different then before 03. If I find out what to do I will do this mod and the oil injection block off at the same time. I can weld and fabricate so if there is a way to do it without a kit I will.
