Just bought a complete new exhaust header FMF Fatty and the slip on. Do I have to jett the carb, and if so what do I need. Never really messed with a carb before.

Yes you do need to re jet, but we need to know what carb, any other mods and your elevation and temperature to be able to give a ballpark figure

I live in Virginia and it's the stock carb that came with it back in 1998. I am putting a weisco piston in it and that is the same size as when it was bought as well. Other than that nothing else has been done to it.

The engine will suffer from overheating of the piston, and can cause a massive engine failure!
Well guys thank you for all the help I Ann sure I will have many more questions as I get further in to it. So again I have to buy the jets online and install them prior to running?

Unless that thing has been sitting in a shed for 16 of its past 17 years I would be getting the cylinder checked by someone who knows what they're doing to make sure its not out-of-round or tapered!

I have only once put a new piston in an old hole. It was about half of the run out tolerance, in retrospect I should have bored it. (not a blaster, if that matters)

New piston, new hole. Peace of mind = priceless

new problem now, I was changing out the piston and one of the nuts are rounded that is on the cylinder how do I get it off any suggestions?

What nut was it? In the head or at the base of the cylinder? Also some folks don't do it but you should also loosen the nuts in the same pattern as you torque them incrementally. It helps to keep anything from warping.
