I just put some maxxis razr rears on my blaster and something happend i wasent really ready for. before the razrs i could only get into 5th gear down my street before i had to get on the brakes, after the razrs im getting well into 6th. So i guess the smaller tires took from top speed and added to low end torque? So my question is whats the cheapest and easiest way to get that speed back?

Change the gearing or the sprockets? Is it hard to change the tranny gears? Ive got stock sprockets on it right now, but i can afford to go pick one up right now, what tooth count u guys recommend?

go with a 14 tooth on the front and 40 on the back, that pretty much should bring it back to normal..... oh yeah u dont have to change any gears in the tranny, changing ur gearing is just a phrase for changeing ur sprockets

nice! ill pick them up in the morning. Thanx for your help guys!!!

Never have I changed the sprockets on a blaster, and just by looking at it I would say the rear sprocket would be easier to change than the front. A little help would be greatly appreciated as I feel I don't want to completely sacrifice my low-end performance but I would like to have a little more top speed.

would also like to bump cmattox's post about not losing low end but gaining top end power. i also have the small rear maxxis razr's and stock gearing.

I use 14 tooth on front and stock on the rear and dont have too many problems but im running 22 inch rear tires right now and they rob a lot of my low end so I need a good running start before I tackle the steep stuff so depending on you tire size you may have to adjust a little.
as a rule of thumb adding 1 tooth to the front is about the same as taking 3 off the rear

I'm running a 14/40 and its perfect. The front sprocket is so easy to change. Take side cover off, take 2 bolts holding sprocket out, slide old one off. Then put it back together.

i think u go down on the back im pretty sure with keeping the front 13 tooth ppl change the back to 38... stock is 40... mayb 39 to be safe
