need help lol back fire & missing

your timing is no good. you probably lost or damaged the key on the flywheel and now your timing is all over the place. if i were you id take the flywheel off and see if the key is still holding it were it needs to be.

this is what id do if you are having some serious backfires, like intake backfires. if its just missing and has a real chopy idle, or runs mildly crappy, then just cleen the carb, get a new plug, and see what happens.

or u could possibly have an airleak from the carb foward or around the head or warped reeds or cracked reeds will make it backfire.take wd40 and spray around the head and listen to see if it idle's higher..if so u got an airleak and check ur reeds

that would be my guess also with bigdblaster's comment, but instead of using w-d 40, fabricate a block off plate for your exhaust and filter intake and with the filter intake drill a hole in it to accept a valve to pump air into the motor(only about 3 to 4lbs) then with cylender at bdc pump it up and use a mix of water and soap to spray the outside of the engine while compressed. This way you dont have to start up the bike to see if its leaking and cuase it to burn up! Oh and this way it checks the rubber boots as well and all the gaskets!

my missfiring and chopping running was due to a bad plug. replace it, its like 3 bucks and i wish i did before i took her all apart. like i saw spark, but i guess it was all random and bad spark.

I'm having this same problem, I got a new plug, just put new reeds in it and it wont hit a lick. Kinda like its outta time, I can spray ether (dont know how to spell that) in the head and it still wont start. So could that be the timing? Any help is greatly appreciated...

if the backfiring is mainly on deceleration w/ engine braking, then this could also be symptomatic of improper jetting.
i think 2 strokes are a little different than 4 strokes in this regard. on a 4 stroke, popping on hard decel is indicative of lean pilot mixture, but it seems like on a 2 stroke it's indicative of a rich mix.
can anyone chime in on that?
