Firsltly this is my first post, and jus wanna say thanks to all admin, and members, bought a blaster of my mate with the pistons F***ed, i was able to put new pistons and rings on wit the help of looking at this forum and the a haynes manual. Now she starts first kick no problem but wants to cut out if i dont keep the throttle on, i cant tighten the throttle cable ne more, i adjusted the pilot screw to the setting it says in the manual. In the manual it says to also adjust the idle screw, which by the picture looks like it is just above the carb and between fuel tank, but i cant find it for the life of me. Can only see the "thing" which then goes to the spark plug. Its a 2001 blaster. She runs fine and the idle isnt "rough and jumpy". Do i just need a new throttle cable? Cheers for n e help.

P.s If ne one is in Kent, UK area, let me know.

well first off, welcome to the forum
if the bike has a stock carb, with the tors box on top, thats where the idle adjust is, on top of that, you have to pull the seat, and look down between the tank and frame, you should see a big screw with a slot in it, thats the idle adjuster, if it has the tors removed then it should have a idle screw installed on the carb near the airscrew, if neither are there, you will need to get and install an idle screw, the cable isnt supposed to be for adjusting idle, the adjusters on any cable (carb, clutch, brakes) are for cable slack, not adjusting operation
check these things and report back

As always great advice awk. As stated check ur tors if u have one. There is a great guide on here for tors removal. That thing stumped me for hrs til I found it was the problem.

I think the TORS has been removed by the previous owner, im pretty sure that its just a stock carb, how would i install an idle screw? Just gonna go check it out now and see if i can locate the idle screw on the actual carb. Would jetting the carb do anything, as i havent done this since the top end rebuild. Cheers for all ur advice.

you can get idle screw kits from motion pro on ebay, or the vito's kit i once used came with pretty good directions, it involves some filing, drilling, and tapping, and came with the drill bit and tap.................
IDLE KIT FOR TORS...
this should be done with the carb off the bike, you'll wanna make sure to try and keep all the metal shavings this causes, out of the carb, shove a rag in it, and clean it good before re-installing

and untill you do some mods that effect the airflow in or out of the motor(a/m airfilter, pipe, ect.), you shouldnt have to re-jet for just a top end rebuild, but can do a plug chop to be sure, do a search on here for "plug chop"

Had a look and couldnt see any extra screws added to the stock carb, will probably have to get an idle kit, thanks for the link havent looked to see if i can get one in the UK but Vito's say they ship internationally, so worse comes to worse i'd use them. Will also ask my mate who i bought it off if he had ne problems with it. Cheers for help.

Motion pro also has idle kits I think there a little better as long as you tighten the nut on it it shouldnt fall out. At least mine hasn't had any problems coming loose or anything
