Finially got my blaster all rebuilt. Newer cases, new bearings, new gaskets & seals, new piston and rings. No more air leak!! Fmf pipe, silencer, k & n filter, bored .5 over. Gas mixed 32:1. I probably have 10 hrs on my motor, been running great. Went to the sand dunes the other day I had been running it for quite a while, and was probably the first time I really hit full throttle and was running pretty hard. It started to miss out for a little bit. I slowed down ran fine never happened again. Next day same thing. Acts like it wasn't getting enough fuel. Spark plug looks good. So I think my main jet is ok, but I think its a carb problem. Maybe I just need to go thru the jetting thread on setting everything in the carb. What does everyone think?

k will get that done. I did leak down test after rebuild. Held for a long time. Havent checked compression or anything after break in. Just retorqued head and cylinder base nuts.

it could also be an electrical misfire as well. ive seen bikes with a weak ground misfire at certain rpm's. when the motor hits a certain rpm, it puts out a specific harmonic vibration and causes the ground to release and short out the coil.

Take a look at all your electrical connections. buy yourself a $1.99 tube of diaelectric grease at napa and squirt that stuff in every connection and check that off your list of possibilities.

replace the plug. they might look good but Ive seen em break internally and have the same effect as above.

could possibly be a float setting on the carb or a clogged delivery hose. maybe
but im sure awk will have a better answer for ya

hahahaaaa, why me, cause i like lookin at the float levels ?????
electricals luv to show under load too, coil wires and grounds especially

also running the sand puts a heavy load on motor. You msy be on the edge with jetting and doesn't show up till then. May also be getting hot and nearing detonation.

compression is in between 95-100. will try and get leak down done in next few days. Will also try and post a pic of my plug and get your guys opinion. Otherwise Ive been impressed with the performance after rebuild. Before with my air leak I hated that blaster. When I showed up with it at the dunes with some friends they were makeing fun of it. Till they seen it kept up with them with no problems. One guy got on it and he got dumped off...lol

^^^^^X2 it's maybe time to think about a freshen up (either new rings and a hone if the cylinder to piston spec is in or a bore job and new piston)

That alone could be your problem but it could also be electrical. Two things combining to cause a "random" occurance.

The piston and rings were just replaced during the rebuild and the cylinder was bored .5 over same time. Does it matter if the engine is hot or cold during compression test?

Here is my plug, it was new after rebuild, about 10 hrs on it. I thought it looked ok.

Ya, I will try and get a better pic, I thought same thing. When I did compression test engine was cold, just screwed on compression tester (brand new) and kicked it. Didn't touch throttle or anything. Is this not the proper way?

if you did kick it 15 times your piston to wall clearence is to great did you check this if i remember correctly it should be around .004.

you also have to be holding the throttle wide open when doing a compression test, then kick it till the needle stops moving
then report back
