My blaster is really heavy on petrol and it looks like im gonna have to sell it and buy a 250ex or sommet like that ,does anyone know how to stop it being so thirsty ?the engine is completly standerd except for the oil cut of kit

nope, mine eats gas too, its just how its gonna be, when i rebuild mine jsr performance is gonna make it run on e85 so it should be a little cheaper for gas( even though it will get even worse mileage), i don't know any ways to make it less thirsty

thats how they are, if ya stay off the throttle and just ride easy it'll get way better milage, but who wants to do that???

ehh the pokers aint much better ridding my gmas rancher for 2 hours burns half a rtank and the 250ex burns more well the way i ride my blasty isnt that bad on gas compared to other stuff i ride

my buddies blaster was a real gas hog he would have to fill up twice when i had to fill up once and still had gas. but he had to big of a carb and it wasnt jetted right.are you sure your jetted properly?

Being a completely standard motor is not helping. These engines are choked back so much that mileage has to be hurt too. If you up grade the air filter and exhaust, maybe advance timing 4 degrees, I think it would help a alot. I know it sounds like that stuff would flow more air thus it should flow more fuel. That isnt really true. Right now you have to be in the throttle MORE because your underpowered. If you can get it to run a little better you would be in the throttle half as much, SAVING FUEL. What I listed are cheap upgrades, a FMF evhaust will do you a great job and there cheap on e-bay. Dont give up yet!

e85 must be alot cheaper in your area, Around here it is about the same price maybe 5-10 cents cheaper every once in a while and at that price your bascially better off running regular fuel because it will be more expensive, running e85 you hurt your consumption by like 15-20%. Also how much is it going to cost to do the conversions, then factor in how much fuel you would have to by to off set the cost of the conversion, is it still worth it?

i know my blaster with mods in my sig eats gas like crazy. but for some reason i cant putt around. my blaster will idle, but if i try to go slow over an obstacle or something then i have to be on the throttle. its because blasters are high performance race machines. everyone know that

yeah, plus e85 is 105 octane and can be used as race gas, so when i rebuild i'm gonna get the engine set up to run on 105 octane e85, lol, its sweet

My girlfriends uncle has a COMPLETELY stock blaster. His range is about equivalent to what her dads brand new 300ex goes.

Both of them go WAY farther than mine. But I have a FMF Fatty and too large of a carb. Ill report about my mileage once I get my 28mm PWK installed and my jetting figured out. I should be doing way better mileage than Im getting currently. I suspect if yours is that bad off, your engine is on its way out or your jetting is just crap. Hopefully my jetting/carb is the problem.

This is not true. Its actually octane rating is in the 94-96 range. Also if you converted to ethenol you have have to find someplace to get a none rubber boot to go from the carb to the motor, and also find a place to get a piston that can handle the ethenol, as it eats bare aluminum.

it will eat everything. i was told it eats rust at the bottom of metal gas tanks. but if you convert it then you can make your own moon shine and run straight moon shine. its not illegal to make. just to sell

my blaster was super fuel efficant when it ran it was a .20 bore and stock everything else and i could ride for almost 2 days beating the sh*t out fo it and still have gas. i could ride on RESERVE all day and think nothing of it. and still get home that nigh sadly it will no longer be like that

i can ride for like 3 or 4 hours and not need gas for 2 sometimes 3 days and if u get four poke dont get a 250ex there slow as hell a stock blasty eats them like nothing atleast get a 300 better yet 400ex

e85 isn't nearly as corrosive and hard on things as methanol and plenty of people run meth in their blasters. just a thought. it requires almost 2 times the fuel volume and than gas, and it does eat aluminum and rubber.

who here that's talking bad about e85 has used it first hand and actually seen the problems they are saying it causes?

i know people who run e85 first hand, i've worked on their cars, they have aluminum fuel systems and the ethanol has not hurt anything.

as far as it eating the piston, thats completely false. what do you think is in all the flex fuel motors for pistons? aluminum.

i even ran it in my camaro for a summer, the only problem i ran into was that my injectors that are slightly small running it on gas couldn't keep up with the roughly 20% increase in the fuel demand. the car ran cooler and fuel mileage difference was noticeable but here it is around $1.50 cheaper per gallon so it was still cheaper.

I don't run it first hand as me or my family doesn't own a flex fuel vehicle. I do have a friend with a 09 chevy and he doesn't run it becuase it costs more to run e85. As far as the aluminum I haven't heard anything about, but I do know that it eats aluminum, but I have seen it eat through a rubber fuel line is just a couple seasons. Since e85 is that much cheaper in your area, I would prolly go ahead and do the conversion, like I said I was going of the prices is this area with amount to 15-20 cents a gallon at most usually.

My Plan is to swap in a 660 , and add a 4 gallon tank , tons of power , electric start and extended range with the extra gallon of fuel . I know its a 4 poke engine , but its still a blasty frame . Plus the reverse will be cool too ....

i was thinking about going to e85 on my bike because of the cooling characteristics. however for the time/hassle of doing it, its hard to justify when mine will run find on pump gas.

and if you build like a 12:1 LSx based motor with e85 in mind.....it actually doesn't get that bad of mileage lol. that stuff likey the compression
