so i just f*cking got my quad back from leaving it at my friends. im not f*cking happy. hes obviously bullshiting me it just didnt start.

i need help determining the problem, and ill tell you right now, i know its guna be bad from my own knowledge, unless im mystaken.

i did the usual check when not starting, plug, spark, compression, gas, gas valve on.

with that, i got it so it runs for like 2 seconds max but sounds like somethings broken inside of it. i dont want to keep running it, but it honestly sounds like the piston rods broke and rattling around BUT it cant be because it runs, runs but not well. its barely going and max 2 seconds. and in those 2 seconds, i can tell somethings broke.

i know thats not much to go by, but i have nothing else, unless you tell me specificaly what to check or what to do.

please i would greatly appreciate all your guys help and knowledge on this one.

thanks in advance,
matt

piston skirt: no idea what the f*ck that is

and pull the jug? by that do you mean pull the whole upper part of the engine off(part with the fins=jug?)

thanks for the response

what kind of sh*t am i into here? should i just bring it in? ive never done a rebuild before. or would it be a good learning experience lol?

before you pull the jug. look at the bolt that holds your flywheel in place. it may have come loose and is allowing your flywheel to slap back and forth. it sounds like a thrown rod when that happens and will still allow the engine to fire somewhat.

pulling the jug is cake. it's 6 bolts on top that hold on the head, and 4 bolts that hold the jug in place.
you'll need to remove the tank and maybe the pipe depending on what kind you've got, and the carb.
when you're reinstalling the jug remember that the piston rings need to align so the gap is on the little markers in the slot.

quick question! how does the fly wheel come off? ive taken the head and the jug off. motor is out of the quad on my bench. carbs off, i got the nut on the fly wheel off but it still wont come off. how do i get it off? oh and i just found out i have a hot rods crank in there !!

well... found the problem, but im out of luck for now, i think i need to take it in to get it fixed. the conecting rod bearing (end connected to crank not piston) is shot. its got a bunch of play and i cant see but i think its all broken.

so ive got everything taken apart. engines on my work bench with cylinder head and jug off.

got the piston off.(oh where is the name brand and size of piston?) i need new piston rings, but just rings, where can i get some?

now my problem is, i cant get the fly wheel off. i need some tool(supposebly) if anyones got any tricks on how to get it off without a rotar removal wrench, please tell me.

also, whats the esiest and safest way of geting the crank out?( supposebly i also need a tool to split the case and a tool to remove the crank... so many damn specialty tools)

so if anyones got tips for any of the different things i need to do, please help.

or do you guys think im stuck and should just take it in? ive got so far, its right there lol its just not as simple as it seems it should be. ill post some pics of everything apart in a bit. who doesnt like pictures?? :D

forgot the damn video
it seems like a small problem, like its not going to affect anything but im pretty sure thats the only thing causeing it to run sh*ty and sound bad(clunking). if you guys think this cant be the only problem, let me know becuase i think im going to take it in, and he said the more i tell him, the less it costs.

the safest way to get the flywheel off is to buy a flywheel puller, if you use the puller you wont mess anything up, and there only a few dollars, that sucks dude, hope you get her running

there are many ways to easily make something to pull the flywheel (put the nut on a little, pry out on the flywheel w/ screwdriver, and tap nut with hammer) and split the cases, and take the crank out (screw drivers work wonders ;) ) but i didn't tell you that cause it's too easy to mess stuff up not doing it the right way.

just use the puller!!

how about afro engineer

cheered me up a bit lol.

and im going to find me some pullers tomorow. but i need to find where i can get a specific one, because its really tight in there and i need one that will fit. wheres my best bet to find one? and coming back from being away all day, the engine seems small and less intimidating, if you know what i mean. now i just feel like rippin it apart.

any rules/tips about pulling it apart? like gears and sh*t? gears scare me all the different sh*t in there seems intimidating and like im not guna get it back together right.

u can get a flywheel puller on ebay for i think like 10 bucks, but!!!!!splitting the cases, thats a tough one, especialy if uv never done it before. first u defenitly want to get a blaster manual, (ebay cheap) and read that sh*t for days, then if u still want to do it, make sure u take pics of eveything u are doing so that if theres a problem later, u can always look back to the pics as a refrence, exclaimation point......ha ha
