just took my lower end apart a little while ago and found that the bearing for the counter balancer (i think thats what it's called) was shot and looks like the guy i got it from drove it for a while like that and it was slaping againest the case but it looks ok not the greatest and the case looks ok but where can i get the bearing for that and how do i get it out?

your local yamaha dealer can help you out with getting the part, or motosport.com can get oem parts as well. someone else will have to help you out with removing it tho, never had to do that

That bearing is available from the local dealer. It is common for that bearing to go,and some don't replace it cause it can be tough to get out.I use my slide hammer with a tip I ground down to get underneath it and I just slam it back.It is tough with any puller to get in there. If you have a propane/mapp gas torch just heat up the tip of a screwdriver and bend it at 90 degree angle.Let it cool on it's own. Then use some heat on the outer edge of the bearing and use the bent screwdriver to help you pull.A dremel could also be your friend in this situation and depends what you have for tools.Improvising is good.lol I would also make sure the counter balancer is still good,if you have any suspissions on it then just get one cheap off of ebay.Good luck

ok kool the counter balancer is scored up and ruff in the center where it was rubing on the case but the end that goes in the gearing is ok and the case looks ok i will get a pic of it here in a little bit and you will see wat im talking about

The case will not matter too much, but if the counter balancer is marked up don't take chances and just replace it.
