Lost First Gear

I lost first gear while riding. It goes into 2nd from neutral and then on to all the other gears. It just doesnt go down into first though. I was just wondering if someone else had the same problem and has a good idea of what it is. Im hoping its just a linkage deal. But id like to know if anyone knows anything before i split the bottom end.

Thats what im thinkin if it was anything serious like bits breakin i would think all the other gears would be gone as well
