hi i am new to this site and have just got a few questions. firstly i went to my bike tonight to start it because it hasnt been started for about a week. it took about 10 kicks to start but it seems to run fine.. any ideas on this?? second question is to do with the clutch. the clutch lever is hitting the bottom of the carb. i know it is meant to line up with the little marker on the case. is there a way to take off the lever and move it? thanks for any help anyone can give

Hi Bob,

Its not all that un common for a older atv, to take a few extra kicks.

Several things come into play.

older gas in the unit,
a carb that might be due for a tune up, a good cleaning or adjustment.

I dont know what year you have, or the condition of the atv, compression, ect.

So, I just mentioned some basic common, issues that you run into, with hard starting.

Did you use the choke ? sometimes those chokes need cleaned and a new o ring in them also.
As for the clutch , touching the carb. I too have noticed a tight fit there, not allot of room.

Have you checked to make sure your carb is on right with the boots ?

The intake boot, has like a slot, that fits into the carb housing, for proper placement.

You might check to be sure that the alignment of the carb is correct.

Thanks for the replys awk and sporty i will check the compression and the clutch adjustment tomorrow. I mite see if i can clean carb too. I will let you s know how it all goes when i am finished thanks again

I am not sure if you have a larger aftermarket carby or stock, but if you cant fix by adjustment you may consider a reed spacer block to give more space.

Sometimes a motor can take a few kicks to start if it has been sitting a while.
