Kicker is too loose?

heres the deal i have a 1996blaster my son rides. starts right up , but that dang kicker seems loose that whenever you ride it always swings outward and rides kinda on your shin all the time. is this unusual or is there something i can do to fix this?

its not unusual at all, mine does it somewhat but not to the point of annoyance. easiest thing to do would be order one off ebay thats alot newer like a 06. i THINK there is a rebuild kit you can get but im not sure where to buy one.

there is no official (yamaha) fix for this other than a $90 new kicker
but i worked with my local dealer and we found a suzuki streetbike, passenger peg that uses a similar spring and ball inside
these have worked for my 2 blasters and about 10 others, it failed to help one person
who's kicker must have been too worn to help
i charge $5 shipped for the set, worth a shot to prevent that sore shin

someone once suggested using a stretchy cord around it and just kick it with the stretchy attached! bit of a bullet job but if you are desperate....
