can guys believe that the little bolt that holds on the kickstarter is 7 dollars.... cmon for a nut....?

I can relate all too much. Just visited the local dealer a couple days ago and I was in shock and awe at how much they want for oil. I used to have a 05' zx10r and since sold it, actually got bored of the thing and didn't like being paranoid of big brother. A bike like that wants to sing at a buck on one wheel all day long etc, etc. So any way that was about three years ago and I had this case of Kawasaki brand 10w40 oil, been using it on my Ruckus scooter and now I'm down to a couple of quarts. Actually one as I just changed the oil on my new to me 03' Blaster. I just can't believe how much the good oil is, when I went to change the oil it was obvious that the previous owner had used a pair of vise grips:o So I tried my 12 point socket and that was a nogo until I took a file to the high spots of the gnawed points of the bolt. It was so bad that I had to use a six point socket instead, which really is the way to go if you want to preserve the form of the bolt head anyways. This thread is ammo for me to stick with the old bolt and just not overtighten it, use new washers, blah, blah. I bet that bolt is 7 bucks too. I may get one anyway, we'll see. I don't think I'll get the expensive oil though, walmart here I come and yes I know my oils, spend too much time on the net hanging with google. :p

i bet your right....i paid 12 for the front swingarm bolt nut at the stealership ....when you in a pinch and need part now you gotta pay up lol

I hear you bro I had to buy a bunch of misc. bolts and nut from the local Yamaha Stealership. 100 bucks and counting LOL

oh yeah I also went to check the air filter and clean it for the first time since acquiring my beast and the silly guy I bought it from must have lost the bolt. So he stuck a standard bolt that was a half inch too long in there that barely started on the first thread. Good thing he didn't ride sand pits:o Well I happened to have a assortment of metric nuts and bolts from past bikes along with fender washers and managed to cobble the proper fasteners. Hey always be on the lookout for old Japanese bikes, even if they don't run you can always take the bolts. I:I

hey guys sorry if i made anyone mad about posting about that nut.. but i found another stealership that sold me the bolt for just 2 bucks :) pretty pumped. i prolly should pick up some lock tight for it tho..

ya probally.. when i had my blaster that nut only came off when i put it on with a normal socket and ratchet.. but if i used my impact it stayed on fine.. so i would use the locktite just in case
