I am new to the blaster/2 stroke world. I was wondering what size of jets I need to have put into my blaster. I live in central IL, and I want to put something in that I don't have to change out between summer and winter. Any help will be appreciated. ThanksI:I

And it will have the LRD system on it, and airbox gone, with a k&n with outerwears

sorry man...you REALLY should rejet it from summer to winter. i'd start somewhere around a 300 and do a plug chop. hopefully 4cfed will chime in, i think he's running the same kind of setup

not unless you lose them. they're re-usable. if you make it rich enough to be safe in the winter, it'll be so rich in the summer that it won't run very well.

I'm confused on what you mean by Plug chop. I'm new to this, and I don't do my own work, but will a installer know what to do? I just bought one of the vitos jet kits from kennady off of here. Do I need the needle clip and everything it came with? Or just the main jet. Sorry again, but I'm new to this

a plug chop is when you get on the road or a long flat stretch and get into 6th gear and run it Wide Open Throttle (WOT) for about 30 seconds to a minute then without letting off the gas kill the engine with the kill switch while holding the clutch. then let the machine cool off and pull the sparkplug and see if it is cardboard color. if its black lean the main jet go lower in number. if its white richen the main jet go higher in number. if you pull the plug when its just idleing and look at the color then that only applies to the air screw and idle jet. your installer should know what to do. if you talk to him and explain what i said he will probably agree. and the jet kit you bought should be all you need. as far as jets go. the needle moves up and down to adjust the mid level jetting. main jets are for wot only.

So do I need the needle and clip or not? Sorry for the questions. But I am 2 stroke illeterate.

My blaster has a FMF pipe and silencer, stock carb with a 225 main jet, it rips hard for about 2 or 3 seconds, then boggs. The plug is black black black. I tried adjusting the float level, all that did was make it run good for a few seconds until it ran out of gas and died. I opened it back up a little and then it was back to bogging. I think I am around 1000 feet above sea level. But every jet kit I have seen is starting at 290 and going up. Anyone know where to get a jet kit that goes lower than 225?

you've probably got a problem if you're running that size jet in a stock carb with an FMF exhaust. you should be from 250-280 on the jetting if the airbox lid is off. is your air filter clean?

Its a clamp on UNI filter on the back of the stock carb. I will try cleaning it. I had a 34 mm Mukuni on it with a 200 main and it was way fat (rich) also. Different filter though. IDK I will try cleaning the filter. Thanks alot

im running alrd pipe with a lrd silencer shortened 2 inches, k&n filter with no lid... im not sure what jettin is in it sinc ei havent changed it since i got it, BUT the winter jetting for the fmf fatty was good on it with the lrd tell about 60 degress... its rich but still boggies...

yes you have to change for winter summer.. summer jetting will be to lean for winter, and winter will be to rich for summer.....

ill be able to report back on jettin maybe tommrow... if i get ambition to see whats in my carb since it seems a bit rich on the main

I just cleaned the filter, no change. Any more ideas? I have had the carb apart blew air through all of the holes, nothing is plugged. I dont get it, everyone says it should be lean with a 225 main jet, but its way rich.

Well as far as I know its stock. It has that stupid TORS thing on top with the nut that screws on top of the carb. Im going to get a new spark plug tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. I have had some trouble with the NGK plugs for it. I might try a different brand. The last new one worked for 2 hours, then it started backfiring and not reving, then it clear died. It didnt have any spark, got a different plug and it ran again, but not right, and that is where I am now.

what does the plug look like when you pulled it out? is it black and sooty? is it clean? is it white and chalky?

Its very black/oily looking. If I can get it to go hold it wide open, by the time I hit 3rd it cleans out and runs great until I slow down then have to do it again. I was wondering about the piolet jet?? I am not sure what it does, and if it could make this thing act like this.

Alright. I got 290-340. So what do I need to put in now for the summer? Also, is this something I (don't know much about 2 strokes and little mechanical knowledge) could do?thanks
