Jet

need more info than that.. Temp, altitude, any other mods, oil injection or premix, air box lid or no. Only a plug chop can tell you what jet you need. we can get you close though..

Where in P.A? need your altitude. Also premix or oil injection? and the only mod is Air box lid removed right?

310 maybe .. You may need to move the needle a clip. Plug chop to confirm your jetting ALWAYS..

Lid off, I would start the plug chop at #320, as Toomey states #310 with holes drilled in the air box lid.

Add one size more for 32:1 pre mix.

By that I believe you mean "air box lid".

Taking the lid off makes the noise of the intake very much louder, but it allows considerable more air to get into the intake duct.
Should I leave it off and I think it's running to lean. What should I do. New jet and airfilters with lid or no lif

What colour was the smoke ring?

What size is the new jet?

Bigger number main jet is going to give you an increase in fuel flow. Stock is 230 (correct me if I'm wrong).

Going up in the main jet size will increase fuel flow. Moving the clip in the needle, which raises the needle, allows the needle to sit higher, resulting in higher fuel flow at the same throttle position.

Also, get a bunch of jets when you order some. I always tell someone to order a bunch when starting out. For example, the 250R I'm working on needs around a 195 (different numbering system). BUT, we started with a 152, so we ordered a 160, 170, 180, 190, 200, 210, 220, and 230. Again, different number system.

The bike would rev great, but pull like crap, so we threw a larger main jet in it. We went to a 200. The plug was a rosewood color (dark brown), so we dropped to a 190, which turned out bright tan. So we put the 200 back in and are waiting on a 192, 195, and 197 (198, maybe?) to get it perfect.

I'll find the plug chop walk through from another site and try to get it stickied.
