well if anyone's been following the build, here's my blaster horror story....bought it in boxes and here's what i found
a arm bushings=shot
crankshaft=missing
2 clutch baskets=both grooved to hell
swingarm bearings=trash
carrier bearings=garbage
sprockets=guess what...JUNK
stock carb=the threads at the top aren't good enough to get a cap tight on it....don't figure this out till i spend 40 bucks on a float and a rebuild
crank bearings=shot
reeds=JUNK
all the cables that came with it.....garbage
chain adjusters.....you guessed it FUBAR
now go to assembly.....
-pull out every head stud when i torque them...not at the same time mind you....it took me 6 times at it to find out they're all junk and fixed them one at a time
-get the motor in the chassis and go to put the pipe on...the bolt holes for the pipe are completely stripped, one has already been helicoiled and it failed to...
-pull motor from chassis fix it, put it back in....
-1st heat cycle, find out that kill switch doesn't work....strip wiring harness and eliminate several things and fix some sh*t.
-2nd heat cycle, starts, the idle takes off to the moon. this is when i found my carb cap problem
-get a 36mm carb by mistake, go ahead and throw it on anyway to try it out. everything seems good with the blasty now...its all down hill from here right......................
now finally i get to ride it right? nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
-starts 2nd kick, no choke, AWESOME
-pull in the clutch, pop it into gear, thing jumps and dies.....great
-find out that somethings not right, the clutch boss won't turn inside the clutch basket
-fix problem, go out and get the top end broken in
-go out to ride a bit....strange 1st gear is gone.....pretty soon only gear i have is 3rd
i've actually ridden this thing for about 10-15 minutes (not including putting around for break in) and spent 5 months spending stupid amounts of money and working ridiculous hours on it. now i get to split the cases and figure out what shelled in the trans!I:I
