DMV ran the vin # of this blaster I got yesterday and said it isn't returning anything. she said I will need to find out who has the title to it which is going to be impossible. Also, if it was titled, which she said it had to have been seeing as it's an 02, wouldn't it be in the database? She did ask if it was an out of state quad.X(

yea it definitely sucks. I called the guy I got it from but I know he said he got it from one of his friends. Had to leave a message. Dunno what I'm gonna do.

in ny we are suppose to register ours but there is no way they can do anything about it. I always ride trails and suprisingly have never ran into cops or DEC but i have been almost ran off the road doing about 60. We were riding on this guys land and he said we could but one day we rode his land and when we got to the bottom of the hill and on the rode he came after us and he was pissed lol

I'm having the same issue with my dirt bike since it came from out of state. Theres no record of the bike and its an '01. I talked to the recorder and they sent me a form for the previous owner to fill out, basically acknowledging that they sold the bike to me. They have to have it notorized and fill out a bill of sale. Once I get the form back then I have to have a dnr officer check the bike over and then, they said they could issue me papers on the bike, so I can register it in my name

I would think the authorities should be able to do that, if there is no record of it at all recheck the vin # sometimes a "C" can be a "O". I had that problem. If all is good a bill of sale should suffice!

you should need just a bill of sale from the prior owner or if no record of one being registered you should just be able to register it for tabs. just tell them it's never been registered before.

well I was told the bill of sale isn't going to help since it's not notarized. Called the guy tonight and emailed him asking to help me trace it back. No response. If he doesn't respond I'll let him know that I found out tonight it's illegal to get rid of a quad in Ohio without a title.

He seemed like a nice guy though, I think he'll help me out as much as he can

most states don't require title till the last year or so, there should be a bill of sale form and if no record anyone can sign it cause it's never been registered for proof of ownership.

Found this on internet-

I purchased my vehicle from an in-state or out-of-state resident and do not have a title. I submitted my evidence to the BMV and still could not get a title. What else can I do?

Contact the Title and Vehicle Information Services, at 614-752-7671 for a denial letter. You may need to seek legal advice for a possible court order title through the Court of Common Pleas (directing the clerk to issue a certificate of title per Ohio Revised Code, Section 4505.10).

Sounds like a pain- but i searched for 2 hours. got it here>>>http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/faq_APVs.stm

had my bank do a lien search on it and there is one. Now they gota send me some forms to fill out so I can try to get the title from them.
