i will get one from up exhaust port later, i am also planning on pulling cylinder anyway so i can get some good ones of that to.

dont be scared to say it needs rebuild it wouldn't surprise me

So far so good. How was the compression? If it was me,I would pull the cylinder and inspect everything. You'll be into it a base gasket. You can make that yourself. Did you clean the head,or is that how it looked when you pulled it off? What oil are you running?

i have whole cylinder off now, thats how she looked when i took it off no cleaning done

whole piston: stock? i have no idea if this thing has been rebuilt or not

rings are free to move
no cracks to be seen

oil is evinrude johnson (like the boat motors ya know)

how do i make a base gasket??

From those pictures,it looks to be in good shape. The pictures were a bit blury of the inside of the cylinder. Its a biotch taking photos of the inside let alone shiny "things".

Are you still running the oil injection? (I doo and love it!) If so May I recommend ...
Maxima Super M Injector oil,Redline,or any of the high quality 2 stroke oil "designed" for atv's. That marine oil works but is desined for a marine enviroment. The blaster runs much hotter than a marine engine ever will.

If your pre-mixing your fuel, the sky's the limit on the available oils.
Maxima,Golden Spectro,Mutol,Belray,etc,etc,etc

Bottom line run the good stuff.

Everything looks nice. Thats a cast piston and they work great. How does the exhaust side of that piston look? Is your engine stock?

I need some better pictures of the inside of the cylinder. The reason for this is I want to see the port chamfers. Port chamfers are the tiny little radius between the bore and ports, that keep the rings from snagging. If they're there, your good to go. I would put her back together. and leak test. Lets see more photos first.

it will be leak tested dont worry about that, cylinder has no scratches wht so ever, i will try to get u some more pics for the hole chamfers soon

im in the process of cleaning all the crap our of the exhaust port now its terrible im sure it has never been cleaned out before

i dont see piston numbers... or do i need to clean it off to see them. there is a little arrow pointing forward on it though.

exhaust side of piston is just as clean as that side

as far as i know my engine is completly stock, i havent done anything to it other than FMF fatty and muffler there was at least 2 owners before me that all i know about it

oh and yes i have oil injection kit still installed

grr i just took like 25 pictures.... and idk if i got any good ones, if i feel the hole edges, and they aren't sharp are they good? (i know what a chamfer is and the look/feel good to me)

heres the 2 best pictures i got:

Let us know the numbers on the piston. They should be there. Sometimes not. You'll have to clean off/scrape the carbon. Once again, did you ever get a compression reading befor tear down?

For pictures, get good lighting, step AWAY from the head and zoom in. That tends to help much more than using macro setting. Outside (natural light) helps too.

just lightly rub the carbon off with the sand paper I explaind in your earlier thread as long as you dont rubb and see a ton of the metal under neath your fine. your chamfers are perfectly fine. :D BTW they should have an edge but not be sharp yea on top of your piston it should have a # .040 or lower like .030 .020 .010 or STD meaning standard bore. For pre mix oil I use dominator from amsoil and it works, great protection and burns pretty lean.it's usally not any more than $11 a quart for me.

COOL! Virgin bore! It looks pretty mint to me. I say make sure your chamfering is good on all the ports,so you don't snag a ring, and reassemble it,then go ride...after leak checking of course, and checking the plug. Make a new base gasket of the same thickness by copying the old one,and cutting it out with an Xacto knife. Re-torque everything...heat cyles to seat gasket, then re-torque.

i might not have had it perfectly straight across.... idk i just bought it

alright well carbon cleaning in exhaust port sucks still not done...

If it measures less than 66mm then you need to chuck your measuring device away.

Or have it recalibrated.

I bought a brand new caliper to measure the cylinder of my new kx125 it is supposed to be 54mm it came us as less than that on the caliper. For some reason they aren't completely accurate

hey guys, a question for you, how do i get the cylinder back on, i cant get it to go over the rings..... i tried holding them in and sliding it over then but still got caught on em'

also where can i get the material for making my gasket???? would like to get this back together this weekend as my dad will be home and he likes to help work on this stuff with me.

and for the heck of it...... i had to get some pics fora art class thought id upload em to here also:

and yes i was sitting in place with it, i know how the helmet rule is

my mouth looks funny cause i was talking as my friend took them.... hes great at giving my a "im taking it now"

Good looking quad there brother. There is a ring compressor tool you can buy at any good parts store that will hold the rings in for you if you can't pull it off with the help of your dad, the same place should stock gasket material.
