Looks like the big one with the lock nut has done a lot of work and could be plain wore out.

Remove it, take off the locknut, put it back in, and try to raise the idle again.

The carb slide may be worn too, where the idle screw contacts it.

If you get the idle to raise, get it to a high idle and turn the air screw either way, in little increments, to get the highest speed.

Wait a while between adjustments to allow motor to compensate to adjustments,.

Turn the big one back out to set the correct idle. Warning it is a must to have the lock nut on the idle setting screw otherwise it will fall out, causing you greif.

If the carb slide is worn, you can use the adjustment on the cable to adjust the slide height.

The only drawbacks are that the idle may rise, and speed increase when riding, when you turn the handlebars.

take the carb to a dealership, and have them find an idle screw that fits and is slightly longer, i got a thumb style idle screw with a spring that holds it in place instead of the locking nut style, worked great

is there anyway to get one online and if so were would it be called idle screw? if i were to get a new carb i saw there is a 28mm and a 34mm any diff ? when u mean dealership will any quad place work or did u mean yamaha

If your motor is wildly ported and piped, you would gain from the 34mm.

Stock is 26mm and you may gain some from a 28mm.

You may find an idle screw on Fleabay. Any motorcycle/ATV shop should have an idle screw on the shelf, they are pretty standard items.

I would go with the replacment screw option, or you could block off the hole and use the cable to adjust idle.

Looks like you have contracted my "dropsy" disease.:D

fleabay lol ??? ....and thanks ill give my atv shop a calll see what they got id rather the cheap fix insted of almost 300 for a new carb. if anyone could click the link above and tell me what part it is if i decide to go that route ty all for your help as always

I dont see an idle screw listed.

Just ask the shop for an idle screw, or take the carb with you so they can give you one that fits.

thanks ill probably just go there and ask him try to avoid taking the carb there untill i have to the guy knows his sh*t so we will see lol . is it bad to ride it without that screw how does it even work lol ps my first quad so im still learning

i believe the idle screw my local dealer found for me was from a suzuki ?

heres a few on ebay, you'll need to verify thread size/pitch, or retap to this size ?? (thats why taking it to the dealership is a better option, you can actually check fit and operation)

thanks so much i called the quad repair shop today and he seemed to have no idea what screw i was talking about since the tors was removed he was very confusing to me i disslike this guy but hes the only shop close by he said he would have to look at it . am i crazy or does that screw even belong in that spot because on the link i posted for oem parts it did not list that screw. also as i said prior when i would adjust this " so called idle screw" it dident do much of anything at least nothing i noticed at all chaning the idle .... sorry for being very lost but idk much about carbs or quads in general .

you are not whacko,
that idle screw in your pic, is part of the aftermarket tors delete kit, it is not OEM/stock, so it will not show up in any diagram or manual.

i suggested others, (spring style) as i am not a fan of the vito's locking/jam nut style. i had one before, it came loose and fell out on the first ride, and i'm a notorious "over tightner"

that is exactly where it needs to go, your slide has a divot just for that to push up on, in that exact spot
it will cause a major airleak and go boom if it is run without the idle screw in that open hole

here is the same screw you have..............

ok thanks so much i was thinking about buying the one on the first link u posted on ebay what did u search to find them anyhow lol ? what will go boom if i ride without it the carb or the engine lol because idk how long i rode it without it seemed to be ok untill i came to a stop then it would just stall out . hopefully that first one will fit if not i guess ill have to remove it and have it fitted or just tap it .

o geez =/ well hopefully i dident fry it already how would i know would it even run lol ? i will not run it without it till i get a new one for sure . thank you so much for your time on my question .
