About five years ago I was looking into getting a Blaster and having HDP do some port and polish work for me. They were pretty close to where I grew up (NE Ohio) but since I moved they're a few hours away. I've been searching forums and Google and can't find any info on them as to if they're still in business or if they have a website etc.

For a little more background info, I currently have a 1988 Quadzilla with Works shocks and a Bill's pipe. I'm not much of a mechanic but would like to learn and one thing I do know is the Quadzilla is a beast, but I think it may be a little too much work for me. A few years ago it wouldn't start and I think it's an electrical problem (CDI box?) and seeing how old it is I think I may want to get a newer quad, like a 2005-2006 Blaster, and learn how to work on one myself instead of one that may need tons of work.

Also, how close in performance can I get a Blaster in comparison to a Quadzilla? I know the LT500r has 2.5x the displacement but could it get close as far as acceleration and power band at lower speeds (say, up to 40 mph)? There are a lot of woods where I live and not many open fields so this beast of a Quadzilla is very fast but turning isn't ideal.

Sorry for the jumbled post. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Oh, and I'm KICKING myself for not bidding on this "new" Blaster that just sold for under $1600 near where I live. You snooze, you lose:

I dnt think a blaster will ever keep up or catch up or beat a quadzilla off the line. You're probably better off keeping your quadzilla! get it fixed, its a rare machine, you'll probably be happy you kept it.

HDP is out of business for several years now due to a bitter divorce and the Mark guy left town if remember correctly ,Im located on pa /ohio line and could help you out of yo u needed engine building done . if you really wanted to build it up ,you can make a blaster whip a lt500r even in a straight line but youd likely be happier and save money by a good port head cut and some bolton goodies yo ucould have more than enough fun whipping around trails roads and hillclimbs
