hey guys the names tim im new to the forum but ive been reading stuff on here for about a week. i am considering the blaster but i dont know if its going to be what i want. i know theyre pretty small quads in frame size but that doesnt bother me. my one friend has a ltz250 and its fun but it gets boring after awhile. i want a quad to race but if that doesnt work out thats okay. i need some convincing positives of the blaster. im coming off of an rm125 because i've decided i want to ride/race quads. im going to look for blasters preferably the years 2000 and up and im willing to spend a max. of 1200$ is that possible? thanks for the help guys =))

well ive had my blaster for 3 years and im certainly pleased with it never had a single problem with my blaster runs good every day never lets me down (unless im racing a raptor) but im tryin to mod her a lil bit so i can get her up to speed cause after a while everything gets boring so you have to start modding the 1st thing you should do to your blaster is a pipe (exhaust) it makes a BIG difference in power and i felt it and i dont even have the best exhaust but my toomey has a great sound and is good for me

alright thanks...well i just hope it will be relatively close to the power of an rm125 cause i dont want to feel like im downgrading too much. but i know for sure its a blaster that i want to get and im looking at anything of the year 2000 and up and trying to stay under or at the 1200$ range. i kindof want a project but ive always wanted to race. i know they arent too technical with features but i know theres a key ignition and its kickstart but whats the little red light near the handlebars..is that for oil or something? and do the box lights work well on the older models and can they be easily removed for racing style features?

i got the 06 so i have different lights i think you can mod it so u can have better airflow and ive beat a suzuki 125 with a exhaust wen my blaster was stock

alright sounds good. so if i wanted to bring this on an mx track with like 30+ ft. tabletops and stuff...what would i have to do to the suspension? and is it good on the trails?

Blasters

For the track yeah they are good.
Though you may want to seriously consider getting shocks for sure. They can't stand much more than 4 FT of air. Once you do that MOD the motor. PIPES, RAD Valve, Carbs, big-bore ,etc. And to make it stand out make the quad wider. It's just too narrow. At least for the track.

Other than that they are one of the best quads you can buy to race.

As far as the headlights go for the 88-02 models with the square headlight, there are 4 bolts that hold it. they are on the handle bar. It is the easiest thing in the world to remove. You want good advice? get the BLASTER. You won't be disapointed.

alright thanks..i just hope that the power will last me a long time cause this is the last toy i can buy. i'm hoping to get one by august and just modify it and make it a project. the blaster is looking the most promising considering the prices are low and there are tons of upgrades available. i looked into the 400s but they are too pricey and i'd rather have a 2 stroke because i've done a couple rebuilds with them and im somewhat familiar with the technology.

your 1200 dollar budget is easily met with a blaster i got my 01 for 500 and i saw someone on her that got a blaster for around 800 just keep your eye out on places like craigslist and you can deff get one.

yeah i found a couple older ones under the 1000 dollar area..i want something to customize but not something that needs too much work. im hoping to have one by august. i do like the 2003-2006 look but the light seems more technical on those models. i dont really mind though..id even settle for possibly as low as 1997 depending on the price.

this is why people buy quads from the states and sell them down here, i paid 1400 for my 89 blaster completly stock.. and that was CHEAP!
01's and up are around 2500 bux

ive seen 1995's that need top end rebuilds for 500$ and 2000's for like 1000$ all depends on condition i guess. i am trying to find something stock though, it seems like most owners bore them

My kids love the Blasters.. They love the 2 strokes, and are always modding them one way or another. I would bet you will love it. Even though they are smaller at 5'11" I can comfortably ride it as well.

i'm like 5'7 and 120lbs i never really worried about the quads size but more of how much power it puts out.
