Need help on best needle clip position I have heard that the 3rd position is the best for the Toomey exhaust and is what Toomey recommends and Pilot jet setting and Air Screw.
I only have a Toomey Exhaust ,vforce 4 reeds and Uni foam filter and my Air lid is ON

The Toomey will possibly call for a #260 or #270 main, needle in middle slot and a 32.5 pilot jet.

There must be no airleaks and the pipe must be sealed.

The float level must be set at 20 - 21.5mm and the idle set correctly.

Idle adjusting.

Start with air screw 1.5 turns out.

Set idle screw so that it has some sort of idle. With TORS it is the big screw under seat on top of unit. With no TORS is is the brass screw midway down carb body.

Warm up motor and then set idle screw for a faster idle, 2000rpm+

Adjust air screw either way to get the fastest idle.

Adjust air screw a little at a time leaving 10 secs or until the motor to responds.

Re adjust idle screw for desired idle .
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The air filter also can need an increase of one or two jet sizes.

With the air box lid on and the snorkel still attached I would start around a #290 -#300 main jet.

I always start big and plug chop to 1 jet size richer than perfect.

Stock carb, needle on middle clip, 32.5 pilot jet.

Float level 20 - 21.5mm.

Idle must be adjusted correctly.

Pipe = #260
Uni filter = + 1 or 2 #280

I have heard that 03 to 06 already bring the needle on the middle clip and the 32.5 pilot jet is the stock one ???

32.5 is the stock pilot and is what you want to use.
adjust the airscrew like this.....

needle on the middle clip position

i believe toomey provides a 310 or 320 main jet with there complete kit, which includes pipe/silencer and airbox vents

when i just installed my toomey, i left the 340 main jet in from my right bend pipe, with my open airbox and VF3's....it rips, so i left it as is.

IMO..260/270 is too small for the toomey
i'd start with at least a 340 main for your sea level elevation in PR ??
get main jets 340/320/310 and 300
start large and plug chop down to perfection.....
