hey everyone!!!

im new to blasters as well to this forum. however, i need some advice.

I have an 88 blaster which has been running great. the other day, i was riding for about 4 hours and my quad just died. when i went to kick start it, the kick lever wont go down at all! dont believe the motor seized because it wasnt knocking or showed any sign of stress when i was riding it. any have any ideas??

It is a good chance that your engine suffered a massive failure all of the sudden. It's not common but it can happen.

The good news is, blaster engines are about as simple as they get and relatively inexpensive to repair.

The first step is to pull the reed cage and exhaust and look up inside the intake and exhaust ports. They're the easiest accessible areas to check for a seized top end.

If nothing looks out of the ordinary (you can see the piston but there are no scratches or anything on it) the next step is to drain the transmission fluid and look into it for metal particles. You can then remove the clutch cover and inspect the components "down stream" from the crankshaft. If there is something jammed under the clutch cover it should be fairly obvious!

Heres what you need to do:

1) Buy a new OEM Head Gasket.

2) Remove your cylinder head

3) Get a large hammer or mallet

4) Take a nice big pound at the top of the piston, it should now move up and down freely like it used to

5) Re-assemble

DONE!

Is that from the Kennedy repair manual ?
