Ok, admittedly I'm new to the atv game. But I picked up a blaster for a fair price that wasn't running. The guy I got it from told me he had gotten it to start and run a few times but not for very long. After following guides and posts I've done the following.
-Rewired all connections
-Rebuilt stator with Moose Utility components
-New coil
-"known good" CDI from Ebay
-Disassembled and cleaned all hand controls (checked for resistance and continuity) all are good
-New spark plug
-Removed TORS
For the life of me I can not get spark on the plug. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I don't see a year listed ?
So I'll just have to link you to the whole electrical section and you find the pinned
"electrical trouble shooting" for your year.....
http://www.blasterforum.com/forums/electrical.170/

You may also want to check the black ground wire at the coil is grounded to bare frame.
And that no solid black wires are connected to any black/white stripe wires, and those are not touching bare frame.

4 or 5 wire stator ?connected to 4/5 wire harness ? It matters !

Sorry it's a 91
4 wire stator
What do you mean by 4/5 wire harness? Again please bare with me on my ignorance of this. I'm going to take a look at the electrical troubleshooting now.

that alot of work done so far wow!
only thing i dont see listed is the flywheel/magnets:)
although they seldomly dont break
no compression test and no carb cleaning but if its not sparking when plug is grounded to the side of cylinder then you know.
if the person you bought it off did in fact get it to start at all.
sometimes pics of the wiring on your quad will lead to someone seeing an issue

Sorry should have mentioned.
Did a compression test and it was within spec from the manual I found on here.
The carb seems to be working fine. I push the thumb control and it sprays.

I'll see about getting some photos in the next few days. It's cold here.

I did try to ground the plug onto the block while kicking but still didn't see a spark.

please let us know how you can confirm this

and whats the compression at specifically

baring with you :)
we all started right where you are now !

88-02 uses 4 wire stators & matching harness
03-06 uses 5 wire stators & /\/\

it is possible to use a 5 wire stator with an 88-02 4 wire harness by grounding the extra green wire out of the stator to the frame, as the harness has no wire for it.

Compression averaged at 114 lbs from three kicks with the piston at TDC.

I can't get visual on the carb spraying the fuel but I can tell you with the tank on and the reserve on I don't smell anything. I push the throttle and I smell fuel.

The stator is a four wire. I haven't checked for any black wires going to black with white wires yet. I did grind down the ground on the frame where the coil mounts.

Should the ring connector for the ground go on the top of the coil or the bottom?

Regardless you guys have given me plenty of good starting points. Now it's just a matter of waiting until the temperature its double digits again to try a few things. Still can't justify bringing it into the house to work on.
