Head Bolts

So on my 88 the head doesnt have studs, it has thread inserts and bolts and one of the inserts in stripped out so i really only have 5 head bolts holding it down now. I dont want to dump a ton of money into it or make it any worse either.
I was thinking about just trying to find a longer head bolt to maybe grip some better threads deeper?
Or can is there a way to replace thread inserts? Im not very sure.

You can take off the jug, drill out the stripped hole and retap it to the next size stud.

I do not favour thread inserts.

It may pay to revert back to studs and nuts.

You may have to get some stepped studs and drill and tap the holes in the jug.
