i'm working on my brothers blaster....we just did the top end ,and it ran fine...couple days later, a clicking noise started. sounded like it was coming from behind the clutch cover. it increased in speed with the throttle, also when u shifted it into gear, it lunged forward and then the clutch would disengaged all with the lever in...during the inspection, i noticed the drive gear on the clutch basket had play back and forth. and the end of the crank had a slight movement in and out. (not up and down). is that normal?

wondering if anyone could help out with some experience in this? i really don't want to replace the crank and clutch basket if this aren't the culprits.

where does that waving washer go also? it fits in the inner hub? the large thin one...it came out with the plates and i can't find it on the microfiche...

even with the noise the engine was running fine. the spark plug wasnt getting hit by the piston, the engine started easy...

thanks for the help. i can get pics if that helps also.

the wave washer goes in first, before the clutch plates, and i'm unsure about the gear play, sounds like a bearing is bad

the big wave washer thats nearly the size of the plates goe in fourth...being a friction plate, a steel plate, a slightly bigger inside diameter friction plate then the WAVE WASHER, then steel plate, friction, steel, friction and so on....

there is one friction plate that has a bigger I.D and I have given you the order I found mine in the blaster...I had an xt225 and it was in the opposite order being nearer to the end of the stack. After market kit tell you to leave it out when using there clutch kit.

as far as the play is concerned on the basket gear ..the manual say to replace, it uses a rubber and rivit attachment and your rubbers are wallered out. if it clanks with movement your metal to metal and should really replace the basket, I could get mine to move a bit with force,, I used it though.

the crankshaft bearing are an interference fit (very tight) to both the cases and the crank shaft, I have to suspect the bearing may be loose fit in the cases. mine had no movement after installing a new crank kit
