So today we had everything loaded up last night and were ready to leave for the mountains by 9. After finally getting everyone together and getting on the road at 10 we end up an hour up into the mountains and about 20 minutes from our destination the high came to a complete stop... After sitting in the car for about a half hour and seeing many cars turn around to head back the other way, then finally hearing there was an accident ahead and the highway was closed. Killing our trip completely

This is where the G.P.S screwed me

I think to myself "Handy Dandy Smart phone come to the rescue" Using the maps app and finding my gps location i track the local roads and highways to find a new route... I did however it was going to take probably 2 hours to get to where we were headed if not more as apposed to the 20 minutes.. The general consensus was "Lets try it out!".

An Hour and half into the trip off into the weird side roads of the Rocky Mountains, While following the Gps blue dot along the roads to see where we were exactly. Only to come across a ranch that has gated across the roadway. A County road at that...the ranch was littered with No Trespassing signs posted everywhere. I managed to talk with this guy as he was pulling out(after sitting and thinking of what to do). For him to say the map on my phone was wrong and the only way to where i wanted to go was in the opposite direction for over an hour then around for another 2 or so.

Needless to say this is my Rant at how my day was ruined by damn G.P.S. and stupid drivers who dont know how to not crash and cause the highway to not be backed up. leaving for a one hour drive and planning for a full day riding then coming home turned into a 5 and a half hour tour through the mountains pulling 4 Blasters.

Sorry this was just a rant and figured someone might get a good laugh out of it.

You know, that's how people end up on a high mountain pass and die hungry and cold.

CARRY A MAP OR ATLAS. Maps won't lead you down a dead end because they have the road size listed. You're not going to head down a "road" which turns out to be someone's driveway.

I grabbed the map when we got up to the dead end and was looking at where we were and it showed me pretty much the same thing as the map on my phone. I did find a longer route around the ranch, but at that point everyone was tired of sitting and it was time to call it a trip. But our next trip is in a little over a week.
