I'm looking to get a helmet but don't know where to start. Does anyone have a recommendation on a decent but inexpensive helmet? I don't know brands or any reputation but would like some feedback. Thanks.

yeah, go to rockymountainatv.com, closeout section, i got my son a $159 fox racing d.o.t. and snell approved helmet, for $59, the gray one with skulls, awsome helmet!!!!! you gotta watch the cheapies on ebay, some of them say "comes with d.o.t. sticker, so you dont get a ticket" which means they're not a good enuf helmet to get the dot approval, and your head may split like an overripe watermelon upon impact, the most important place to not be cheap, your brains, or at least the ones you have left.
make sure you get a d.o.t. approved, and "snell" too, if you can!!!!!

i got a fulmer like this one Product Index. got it a the dealer for around 100 over a year ago and have had no problems with it. btw i never heard of fulmer intil i got mine and found out they sponsor Doug Gust, Dustin Wimmer, Chris Borich, and Tanner Foust.

around how much are you looking to spend?
I don't even know what the market is. DOT sounds like it's important. What are the attributes to look for in a helmet? Are helmets rated by their weight? Is there strength ratings?

I love my oneal! it is the most comfortable helmet I have ever put in my head!!!

a bit pricey but I love it

This is DOT approved. 2008 MSR Assault (XL for my big noggin). Does it look OK?

i think that looks sweet! DOT basically means that the helmet meets all of the department of transportation's (DOT) safety standards. snell is another organization that tests helmets so if you're buying a helmet that is DOT and snell approved, you know you're buying a quality helmet

i need a new helmet. my ebay chepo one isnt wide enough for my block head. when i smile i can feel the sides of the helmet push out. i'd hate to smack my head of something with it on
this one is looking kinda sweet right now

helmets are suppose to fit tight... there should be no movement at all when it is unbuckled

but I dont think it is suppose to be that tight lol

yea man its so tight it makes my jaw hurt. whole thing is too narrow
really flexible too cant imagine it helping much in a wreck

Thanks guys. I got this helmet at rockymountainatv.com

Checked retailmenot.com for a coupon code and got 10 bucks off with free shipping (after buying goggles and gloves). Thanks guys!

I get all my helmets off ebay. adult dot approved for around 30 and kids helmets around 12-15. mine fits me pretty dang good. not too tight and not too loose. also look up on measuring for helmets so you know or have a good idea what size you need. be sure to check if they say they run smaller or not in the details because all brands are a little diff like shoe or pant sizes depending on factory.
