my buddys old trx250r is up for sale again..

honda 250r with laeger chassis and lrd 350pv motor

no expence spared on this machine..... no its not his so im not talkin to for him im talking it up for what it is

lrd claims 64 hp with the 39 air stryker and there bb pipe... motor was ported, big bucks in the motor and big bucks in the suspension, cr500 link long travel!! i witnessed this machine put new 450 dirt bikes to shame on the trails

thats by far the nicst 250r iv seen, cant see him getting 5k for it

my buddy paid 5500 and drove to ohio for it 2 years ago...

rebuilt it and had it ported, rebuilt the shocks, than rebuilt the bottom end... machine had easy 15-18k in it... pretty much the only thing honda on it is the radiator and the cases, a/m frame even!!!

my buddy got 1200? cash and 2 06? o7? ktm dirt bikes.. a 250 2 smoker and a 450

I will always love 250'rs. But I see a few issues with the value of this one.

Laeger chassis YES, but no T-Pin front end. Basically an aftermarket chassis when there was and is nothing wrong with the 88-89 OEM frame with this type of build. Not lighter or stronger then a stock one, just more expensive.

Laeger Swingarm cr 500 link. Great suspension combo and a nice upgrade over OEM.

Lonestar a arms. Over priced mild steel arms. Heavy and crappy finish. Good geometry but nothing special as far as quality in the details.

PEP shocks all the way around. Excellent "2nd choice" shocks. re-valved/re-sprung OEM bodies. Cheap to maintain and rebuild. Good bang for the buck.

Complete lrd 350 power valve motor. Too bad Arlen and Mike couldnt make things workout and such LRD is now defunct. LRD back in the day was the builder to pay for "R" motors. Arlen and Gary Denton rode the high horse for so many years. Arlen has since re-opended his shop here in the Portland area under the name of LED (Lehman Engine Development). He doesnt make pipes any longer, just builds motors, updates systems and maintains customers stuff. Very low key now a days. Unfortunately if the motor says LRD on it, Arlen doesnt want much to do with it. That is the past and is a collector edition now.

Im sure it's a fun bike to ride, but for $5k, there are some killer deals just like in a more current version 4 stroke that will out run this bike week in and week out.

i dont doubt your knowlege BUT id like to see that bike be out run by anew 4 stroke...

at dyracuse atv/mx park NOTHING touched that bike on the mx track or the trails, outran everything there!!! that machine out ran 450 bikes, EVERY make of 450 quad, rappy 660s and 700s were just dust on the shoulders.. i witnessed that machine dominate everything and anything at the park,

nah, hes not gonna get 5500 for that.....maybe 4000-4500

esspecially in todays market for quads, or any type of offroad/toy stuff

ive seen niceer, but thats deffinatly a sick bike, id love to have it

My point being that you can buy a much newer bike with the same kinds of mods that will run right with it and you get better re-sell.

On a fully built bike, Im sure Doug Gust could hop on either bike (this one and a comparably built 450) and whoop azz on the other riden by a local expert.
