ive asked this ? before and never really got a str8 answer i want to put a 15 tooth sprocket on the front. will i rub ?? do i need to remove or add a link in the chain?? and if a 15 wont fit up front how many do i need to go down in the back to be the same?? and if i were to run a 14 front and 38 rear would i have to remove or add a link??

anyone know??

yes yo u can the guard needs ground though or it will hit on the 15, better have some strong portwork on that signature to pull 15 -38 tooth effectively

im pushing almost 41hp. i can drop the clutch in second and spin the tire's I want to spread out my gears so maybe i can use first as a gear. as well as gain alot of top end.. i cant seem to find a 38 rear.. only for a banshee will that work?

Rear tooth count divided by front tooth count = gear ratio.

The gear ratio for 38/15 would be 2.53333. With a 14 front you would need a 35.4666 (36) tooth sprocket to get close to the same ratio, which would be 2.57.

Stock 40/13 is 3.08. 40/14 (everyone's favorite) is 2.86.

DIDNT YOU ASK THE SAME QUESTION IN A THREAD JUST LAST NIGHT?

thread labled chain?
""if I run a 15 tooth front and 40 tooth rear will i have to add or remove a link from the chain??

and if I run a 15 front and 38 rear will i have to add or remove a link from the chain??""

your stock chain WILL WORK !!! must just be you didnt believe me.
and i also got your 15 tooth front sproket out for you and plan to mail it tonight when i get out.
its all personel pref bro, ya just need to try different setups depending on the way you ride, and find what gearing feels best for YOU.

Rules of thumb.
Bigger gears require more links.
1 tooth up front is equivalent to 3 out back.

It's hard to tell you exactly how many links you'll need but when I went from a 14 to a 16 I needed 2 more links.

Could u send me a picture of the 16 up front?? How much grinding did you have to do?

paulies running a yz400 motor in his blaster, thats why he has a 16 tooth front. 15 is the biggest you can get for a blaster

All of the machines listed use the same sprocket. mr 305 wanted to know if a banshee rear sprocket would fit on a blaster. It will as long as its a 89-06 banshee rear sprocket

yes, i found that out yesterday thanks.. im more or less wondering if i will have to add or remove links to go up to 15/40 im running 14/40 now if i still dont have enoug top end ill drop the rear down to a 38..
