Just wanted to pass my screw up on to others. I put one of those nice stubby vent hose with check valve on my blaster. I really like the looks of it. Problem is it can cause engine to run lean. I was venting the tank with two check valves. I don't know if this could ruin a motor or not. Just wanted to pass on goof up.

Running any engine lean is a poor idea.
If there is enough restriction to hinder the passage of air into the tank to take the place of the drawn fuel, the carby will starve for fuel.
The tank must be able to breathe easily to avoid leaning out the mix.

We have the stubby little hoses with the check valve on all of our bikes. We haven't had any problems yet. Are you sure you didn't get a bad one?
If you buy the cheap ones, they will starve your engine.
