well, the closest i've been to fuel injection is a FCR carb, the quad ran great! but that was before the port job, after it, there was no way of tuning in the carb... had to change back to a Mikuni...
I'm only going to speak for my self on this one but..no fuel injection on a2 stroke. a2 stroke works like an air compressor and sucks its own air. now making it sick that air/fuel in easier and more efficient. i would work on that.but forcing fuel by injection. I'm not quite sure..i could be wrong that's just my lame opinion.''''
This was brought up couple mos ago (hint:try search I:I), was linc to "bolt on" kit for about $600 for that kind of money it better be adding lots of power
well I hope to see a fuel injected 2 stroke in the future, who knows if I can come up with a cr 500 engine maybe I ll try to build one. I think you will see Yamaha/ kawi/ ktm/ honda produce one in the near future, any how I hope they do.
The best bet for an efi blaster would probably be a microsquirt system, i have used this systems bigger brother megasquirt on my highly modified fiat x1/9
That Ossa linc in post #4 is pretty cool, the description is kinda hard to read as it seems to be a translation X( from something other than English.
I do know there are 2s boat motors, and as the Ossa also shows, And I think there are 2s sleds with FI. However, what is possible and what is practical can be two totally different things as far as retrofitting. I would think that the best way would be a direct injection, it would be the only chance of meeting any kind of emmissions (Insert hate for some aspects of tree hugging greenies)
On BHQ there is one guy that used a throttle body from a street bike and IIRC, took him about a year to do it and sort it out. Another has been at it over a year and still isn't done 8-|.
As long as minds younger and sharper than me keep thinking about it, I'm confident the 2s will rise again I:I
Yeah, lots of 2 stroke snowmobiles with Fuel Injection.
I am familiar with Arctic Cat mostly.
They even have battery-less systems on pull start only models.
(serious racers do not want extra weight of battery, starter or even reverse)
I have no idea how the fuel pumps work on those models!
They take one pull to charge up (a capacitor and the pump I guess) and start on second pull.
I'm also thinking it's more work than it's worth. Single cyl. carbs are easy to work on/tune. All the 4t motocross bikes have gone to fi and they aren't faster from it. The advantages are that they are less hassle for the guy that doesn't pay attention to jetting and it's fun to tune your bike with a computer.
