I still have my 2000 Blaster frame with title from the part out I'm going to swap with my titleless 94. Before I do the swap I want to paint it because I don't have enough money to powder coat it. My question is, what are the steps I need to take to have a good looking finished product? What grit of sand paper, what cleaning/degreasing chemicals, and what paint and primer do I want to use?

Thanks

The way I did mine was to use aircraft paint stripper. Clean the frame with a hood degreaser. Spry and wipe it down with pre(a pre paint cleaner). Spray the self etching primer then paint.

if you want to go the sanding route i suggest getting a cheap sandblaster from ebay, there are some for 30 plus shipping that attatch to your air compressor. if u dont mind me asking dakota, how did u get your hands on aircraft grade stripper, where could i get it?

I used 100 grit on the rough spots then went over everything with 220 then wet sanded with 400 and used some walmart auto primer then painted and im happy with the results. looks great

a wipe on paint remover is the best.
but after you strip it, i would suggest using a sander to smooth out the welds and frame.

why strip it completely? Im just curious because when you paint a car you dont strip it to bare metal.

you strip it to the bare metal if you do it right on a car. I paint cars sometimes and they always get stripped and normally dipped.

when i painted my frame i dipped it. some por 15 some sealer some tie coat 5 coats of paint 5 coats of clear. all that added 3mil of thickness and it will hold up better than powder coat.
