forum sponsor with one time payment

Why is it that when i try to become a forum sponsor when it gets to paypal it insists future payments to be withdrawn from my account for the subscription. Why cant I only pay once and renew at my descreation?

You can do that. If you follow through with the payment, then you can go into your paypal account and cancel the payment subsciption. Then next year you will get a reminder that your subscription is about to expire and you can renew it or let it run out
